February 2011 Free Desktop Wallpaper Calendar

For the February 2011 wallpaper calendar I chose a harbinger of spring. I had decided to do flowers for the calendar this year and had to ponder what flower blooms in February? Then I remembered that the amaryllis bulbs in my home bloom in February. I liked that this perfect crimson flower had a tiny vein of white. It gave it a personality all its own in my mind.

You might have noticed that I have expanded the number of monitor sizes available and have also offered one for an iPhone4. I hope you find the perfect version for your use and enjoy this splash of red in the month of love.

The new year is almost upon us. Christmas 2010 is past and a sparkly new 2011 is just around the corner. Last year my free wallpaper calendar was all landscapes of the west. November 2010 Free Desktop Wallpaper Calendar

November's calendar is a shot I took near my home in Larimer County, Colorado. This beautiful red sandstone mesa stands as a gateway to Redstone Canyon. The large old cottonwoods at the base of the mesa follow an intermittent creek bed and add seasonal color to the ancient sea bed. I particularly like to shoot photography when the weather is uncertain to get interesting effects and this foggy day transformed the landscape into muted shapes and colors. October 2010 Free Desktop Wallpaper Calendar

October's calendar is Lake Agnes located in the Colorado State Forest near Cameron Pass. Although hard to see, this alpine lake has an island off to the right side of the photo which makes it unique among mountain lakes. The elevation of Lake Agnes is 10,663 feet and it is usually accessible only part of the year. This is a wonderful hike to take if you visit Colorado. It is a beautiful and remote trail, but accessible and easy to do if you are in reasonably good shape. And since it is in the Colorado State Forest you may also take your leashed dog, a bonus for dog lovers!

September 2010 Free Wallpaper Calendar

We are on the cusp of autumn. Here in the Rocky Mountains, the kids are back in school, the aspen leaves are turning, and the blankets are going back on the bed. Fall has always been my favorite season. Maybe it is the memories of the smell of a fresh box of crayons for school that I still can not resist. Maybe it was the crunch of leaves under foot and jumping into a big irresistible pile of them. Maybe it was bundling up in a soft sweater and drinking cocoa. I think perhaps it is all of that. How about you?

Sunflowers rustling in the hot blast of a high plains summer breeze. Tall golden grass flowing in gentle waves like an inland sea. Cloud streaked sky building into the promise of afternoon rain. Here we are on the cusp of the sweet month of June. The high country of Colorado will be mostly open to travel once again and I can not wait to get up to the "rare air" and shoot some scenery! May 2010 Free Wallpaper Calendar

A tiny spring rivulet of a creek bubbles and burbles down the hillside past lichen covered rocks. The bluebells lining the brook sway gently in the breeze as a slow meandering bee lights from flower to flower. The air is scented with earth and water; flower and pine.
