A Golden Summer Day - Facebook Prize

With the latest winter storm leaving the USA I thought it would be fun to share this photograph taken in the dog days of summer. This was the choice of Glenda Ganis of Los Angeles, California, who won this 8x10 by participating on my Facebook page. Congratulations Glenda!

And the Winner Is...

Bonnie from Original Art Studio is the winner of my Birthday Challenge give away! She has selected an 8x10 of Columbine in Blue as her prize. Congratulations Bonnie!

The answer to my age is 58. The clues for the Birthday Challenge were the date on the right side of the photo, "56", and the five candles on my cake. It was a bit tricky and congratulations to Bonnie and those of you who figured it out!!

We Have a Winner!

First I want to thank all of you for participating! I hope it has been as much fun for you as it has been for me!

Our winner is Allie of allieart4children. She guessed Vietnam Veterans National Memorial located near Angel Fire, New Mexico which is correct. My husband and I stopped there on a road trip to Taos a couple years ago. It is so beautiful and honors the men who died in Vietnam. As a woman who grew up in that era I was deeply touched.

Sunday Morning Gallery - Writing Contest for Children

Here's the challenge kids. Write a story, 200 words or less, about the stone giant that you see in the pictures below. Hmmm. Looks like a head, heart, foot and hand. Wonder why his heart is broken? Why does he have only three fingers? Is he smiling? What do you see?

I will have two age groups, 4 to 8 and 9 to 12. Parents please feel free to type and help your child email me the story but do not write the story for your child. This is for the kids! The two winners will have their story published in my blog and receive a 5x5 print of the giant's head. The deadline for entry is April 11, 2009 and the winners will be published April 19 just before Earth Day! Good luck kids!
